A skilled negotiator, you’re constantly in talks with suppliers and our international buying operation to compare costs and product options. Your decisions are an intelligent reflection of market data and research, a passion for quality and strong commercial instinct. Yet no Director is an island. Our buying teams bounce intuitively off each other. Spurred on by your leadership and people management skills, they’re confident to show initiative and share knowledge which feeds into your vision. The result? A motivated team, that’s clear about their personal development and bursting with ideas.
Added to that, you’ll be making proposals on buying prices, recommending sourcing decisions from authorised suppliers, visiting trade fairs, arranging (and taking part) in sampling sessions. You’ll even decide on package design, the assortment of products and the text for advertised products. This role is one of the fastest, most varied Buying Director roles around.

As a National Buying Specialist, you’ll play an incredibly important role in the whole Buying process. Working closely with a Buying Director, you’ll make sure that they have everything they need to negotiate the best deals.
That involves keeping up communication with suppliers and people across the Aldi business and making sure that every tender process is managed effectively. From ensuring we have great working relationships with our suppliers, to crunching the numbers and putting tender documents and contracts together, you’ll get involved in every aspect of the buying lifecycle. You might even get the chance to recommend products to your Buying Director and make presentations.
Obviously, you’ll need to be well organised and a good communicator, with an eye for detail and the ability to analyse statistics effectively. That may sound like a lot but, in return, you’ll enjoy the chance to put forward your ideas and influence our Buying process.
