Warehouse

About Us

Our Regional Distribution Centres are vast, busy environments with a constant buzz of activity. You’ll find Selectors picking goods for our stores, forklift trucks whizzing around loading everything onto vehicles, and Logistics Assistants checking pallets and keeping the warehouse nice and tidy.

It’s a very efficient, professional, ‘lean’ environment, where we never waste a minute. Everyone knows their role inside out and we all work together as a supportive team.

While everyone’s goal is the same – to ensure the right goods reach the right stores in the most efficient way – roles vary greatly in terms of activities and challenges.

What kind of roles are there?

So here are the roles in the Warehouse side of our business. While they’re all very different, every role is integral to ensuring our customers get the products they need in every store. We have excellent hourly rates for daytime roles and, if you’re able to work during the night or in the freezer section, the pay’s even higher.

Selectors (Days/Nights) Freezer (Days/Nights)

Selectors (Days/Nights) Freezer (Days/Nights)

Our wonderful team of Selectors bring to life our love of efficiency and productivity. Receiving instructions through a headset, they ‘pick’ stock for a specific store and load it onto a pallet. This is then cling-wrapped and put in a particular lane for the Driver to collect and put safely onto a lorry.

Our Selectors tell us it’s a fun team to be part of, with plenty of variety and responsibility. For instance, you’ll need to let your Section Leader know if there’s any damaged stock. You’ll also ensure that full pallets are secured - and clearly marked with the right store number – and that all the paperwork is accurate. Safety is high on the agenda and you’re always ready to get the job done in a ‘high energy’, enthusiastic way. Because, let’s face it, we couldn’t run the show without you.

But in and around that, you’ll be alert and ready to tackle anything that might need doing to ensure the smooth running of the warehouse. It might be something simple like cleaning up a spillage. Equally, you might need to report – and repair – a defect to the warehouse area or its equipment. This is a hugely varied role, and a really important one.

It’s a structured career path with some fantastic goals to aim for. For instance, you’ll be trained in all aspects of Health & Safety while working towards your Level 2/3 NVQ Qualifications. Our most successful Apprentices have every opportunity to work towards a management position.

We’re good at lots of things at Aldi, but we’re particularly good at looking after our people. Yes, you’ll need to work hard and we expect you to be committed (you know, turning up on time, working hard, that sort of thing) but we’ll make every effort to show our appreciation. That’s why we offer the following benefits:

Market-leading package

Yes, the rumours are true: we pay incredibly well. But in return, we’ll ask a lot of you. That’s why we want you to feel looked after.

Nice working environment

Fresh. Energised. Attractive. Those are just some of the terms you could use to describe where you’ll work. It’s the kind of place where you can do great things. A place where your ideas will be heard and you’ll have the freedom to put them into action.

Excellent work-life balance

We always make sure our people have a great work-life balance. Plenty of time off, fantastic benefits and some decent salaries to holiday in style.

Great opportunities to develop

At Aldi we’ll value you for what you can do, rather than where you’ve come from. So we’ll accept, recognise and often implement your ideas and recognise your contribution.
