Our Buying teams have one incredibly important aim: to make sure we continue giving our customers high-quality products at the best value for money. That means we have to understand what customers are looking for and how we can offer it to them. It’s high-pressure work where we have to adapt quickly and rely on our entrepreneurial spirit.
We spend most of our time dealing with people outside the Aldi business, negotiating and building relationships. So when you join, you’ll have the chance influence one of the world’s leading retailers.
There are many key roles in this area of the business, from those who carve a strategic path to those who assist our daily activities. Don’t be fooled by the ‘Assistant’ aspect. You’ll also be looking after product ranges and driving our Buying department forward.
We need to deliver on our promise to customers by securing quality products at the best price. And that starts with you. As our National Buying Director, you’ll develop the sales, profitability and future growth of our business.
A skilled negotiator, you’re constantly in talks with suppliers and our international buying operation to compare costs and product options. Your decisions are an intelligent reflection of market data and research, a passion for quality and strong commercial instinct. Yet no Director is an island. Our buying teams bounce intuitively off each other. Spurred on by your leadership and people management skills, they’re confident to show initiative and share knowledge which feeds into your vision. The result? A motivated team, that’s clear about their personal development and bursting with ideas.
Added to that, you’ll be making proposals on buying prices, recommending sourcing decisions from authorised suppliers, visiting trade fairs, arranging (and taking part) in sampling sessions. You’ll even decide on package design, the assortment of products and the text for advertised products. This role is one of the fastest, most varied Buying Director roles around.
